NextStudio

What is NextStudio?

NextStudio is a beginner-friendly, cross-platform open source DAW with a modern user interface. It runs on Linux, Windows, and macOS and is especially aimed at Linux users.

The project is based on the Tracktion Engine and uses JUCE for the GUI. The goal is to create a clean and functional DAW that's easy to use without sacrificing modern features.

Features

• Audio and MIDI tracks
• Folder tracks for better organization
• Drag and drop samples into the arrangement
• Time-stretching (SoundTouch, libRubberband)
• Edit clips (move, cut, etc.) in the song editor
• Piano roll editor for MIDI editing (move, cut notes)
• Plugin support: internal effects, VST3, and LADSPA
• Automation of any automatable plugin slider directly in the editor
• Planned: Modulation (e.g. with LFOs)
